BMW Swirl Flap Removal

Swirl Flaps within your engine deteriorate over time and can end the life of your engine!

As depicted above within the intake manifold of your BMW you will find these little blighters referred to as Swirl Flaps. Designed to produce a swirl of air to aid combustion when the engine is under light load; the flaps are held in place by two screws, unfortunately as the swirls move over time these screws can loosen or the spindle making their way in to your engine. This in-turn can do a number of things; jam open the valve port causing the piston to collide with the valve, enter the cylinder itself ending the life of the engine and even after leaving the engine further damage can be caused to the exhaust system.

Remove the risk of your car being written off by the swirl flaps, we will remove the swirl flaps. Our blanking plates directly swap with your existing swirl flaps. And the best bit is you will notice no difference in performance from you vehicle, you may even notice an improvement if your swirl flaps have deteriorated. We don’t stop there! We will also fully decarbonise the Inlet Manifold, Egr and Throttle Body. This will reduce any Turbo Lag and improve vehicle performance. We have included images from a BMW 520d (E60)

AUDI AND VW SWIRL FLAP REMOVAL

The Audi/VW 2.7tdi & 3.0tdi v6 engines often suffer from swirl flap problems. This is usually caused by broken rods, swirl flap solenoid/motor. These faults can be repaired by replacing the offending parts but are quite expensive and you will only be putting off the inevitable.

There are 2 inlet manifolds on these engines and the base of the swirls flaps only have a 2% wear tolerance. Once this is reached your ecu recognises this, it goes into limp mode and you will not be able to rev your engine over 2500 rpm and there is a huge power lose.

Your options are:

Buy brand new inlet manifolds from Audi/VW. As previously stated, there are 2 inlet manifolds and 2 motors. The manifolds alone retails over £400 plus vat each!

Try replacing the swirl flaps with a repair kit. This is labour intensive and 9 times out of 10 doesn't work. This due to wear on both, the swirl flap and the aluminium inlet manifolds.

The best course of action will be to get us to reprogram your ecu and disable the fault using our original and state of the art equipment to get rid of this problem forever!
